This research line intends to create an observatory of racial bias in the Judiciary, through quantitative and qualitative research. Regarding the quantitative approach, the research will build a database of court decisions, in order to understand: 1) The crime of racism, racial defamation, and racial discrimination; 2) Crime cases involving victims of police violence; and 3) Criminal proceedings in state and federal courts over the racial profile of police searches. To deepen the study of the judicial modus operandi that legitimizes racial violence, we will conduct studies of criminal cases related to police violence in the cities of São Paulo and Salvador.
