The director of São Paulo Law School, Oscar Vilhena Vieira, prefaced the book “Tráfico de Pessoas: uma abordagem para os direitos humanos” (Human trafficking: An approach to human rights) - the result of a partnership between the National Secretariat of Justice of the Ministry of Justice and the Institute for Law and Citizenship Studies (IEDC).

Launched yesterday in the city of Brasília, the publication includes 32 articles and aims to protect the dignity and integrity of people involved in this situation or more vulnerable to it. In his text, Oscar Vilhena Vieira highlights the numerous challenges in fighting human trafficking, "from the need for legislative changes that address the peculiarities of human traffic, through institutional strengthening and the need to support and ensure the sustainability of society aimed at protecting its most vulnerable groups', he explained.

The launch took place at the same ceremony in which 26 members of the National Committee for Combatting Human Trafficking (Conatrap) took office in the Ministry of Justice. The committee is composed of government and society representatives and proposes strategies for managing and implementing activities of the National Policy Against Human Trafficking adopted in 2006.

According to the ministry, the book aligns the guidelines established by the National Policy Against Human Trafficking.
