Cássio Machado Cavalli
PhD in Law from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Master in Law and Bachelor in Legal and Social Sciences, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Undergraduate Professor at FGV Sao Paulo Law School. He was an exclusive full-time professor of the master's and undergraduate program at FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School (2007-2017). Member of the Ministry of Finance's Work Group for drafting the Reform of the Business Recovery and Bankruptcy Law. He was part of the IBRE-FGV Work Group that drafted the Bankruptcy Law for States and Municipalities. Vice-president of Judicial, Extrajudicial, and Bankruptcy Reorganization Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association-RJ ( 2013-2015, and 2016-2018); Board member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), from 2015 to 2018; expert in competition law, at the Ibero-American Institute for Law and Finance; member of the Brazilian Institute for Business Recovery Studies (IBR-USP); member of the Corporate Law and Capital Market Committees of the Brazilian Bar Association-RJ; Member of the Brazilian Association of Law and Economics (ABDE), the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), and INSOL International. His research addresses the area of business law, mainly bankruptcy law and company recovery, business contracts, economic analysis of law, corporate law, business theory, and foreign exchange law. He is the author of books on corporate judicial reorganization, corporate law, and the law of obligations. He is a lawyer in São Paulo, where he advises Brazilian and foreign companies on projects involving insolvency and restructuring issues in the oil and gas, shipyards, infrastructure, electricity, telecommunications, automotive and retail industries.
