The Economic and Corporate Criminal Law Group (G.DPEE) was cretaed in 2012, and is formed by professors, students, and professionals interested in this area or in areas where economic criminal protection emphasizes: banking, financial, securities, tax, environmental law, etc. Its objective is to promote debates and reflections on aspects of the General Theory of Crime applied to economic criminal law, and on other types of economic criminal offense, especially by incorporating the legal interdisciplinarity intrinsic to the criminal rules of this sector. The group's activities are diversified, and involve undergraduate and graduate levels in thematic events, research projects, seminars, etc.
The group's performance is based on three pillars:
1) critical analysis and formulation of proposals on the legal discipline of economic criminal law (dogmatic, legislative, and/or jurisprudential issues)
2) promoting debates and stimulating the study of economic criminal law
3) critical reflection on specific problems

Criminal Law Study Group
The Criminal Law Study Group is linked to G.PDEE and the Undergraduate Legal Practice Coordination of FGV Sao Paulo Law School. It addresses the academic study of issues related to criminal and procedural law, by putting students in contact with sensitive topics in the current debate and with important names in academia, as well as with active professionals who work in various research lines in criminal law and criminal procedure. Seeking to enrich the debate, the group is composed of students from both FGV and other law schools, forming a student body from different semesters and different paths.
Criminal Law in the Digital World: Do we need legal reforms?
In 2019, G.PDEE organized the course “Criminal Law in the Digital World: Do we need legal reforms?”, which dealt with several fundamental topics related to Criminal Law and the new challenges imposed by technology. Students should develop ideas around the topic of the impacts of the digital age on the different areas of criminal justice administration, in particular criminal liability issues resulting from the automation of procedures.
Criminal Law Competition
The offices that support the teams as coaches in this first year of the competition are Dias & Carvalho Filho Lawyers; Feldens Madruga Lawyers; Lefosse Lawyers; Malheiros Filho, Meggliolaro and Prado Lawyers; Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. and Quiroga Lawyers; Rahal, Carnelós and Vargas do Amaral Lawyers; Toron, Torihara and Cunha Lawyers; and Vilardi Lawyers. The competition also includes the initiative of judges, public defenders, and members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Professors from other educational institutions participate in the judging panels, at the oral phase of the competition.
In the future, we intend to open the competition to all law schools, and to law firms that wish to collaborate with legal education as coaches.
In 2019, G.PDEE promoted an internal Criminal Law competition that involved students from the 2nd to the 5th year of Law from FGV Sao Paulo Law School, their professors, and also lato sensu graduate students and master's students, in addition to professionals who work in some of the most renowned law firms in the country, in the criminal area. The initiative was a pilot project developed within the scope of FGV G.PDEE, inspired by international legal competitions, which annually mobilize Law students from all over the world to resolve disputes in different areas of Law. The objective is to further the discussion on topics covered in the classroom, through a detailed analysis of a criminal case, in addition to developing in the students skills such as teamwork, in-depth investigation, exploration of arguments and counter-arguments, strategic thinking, orality, and relationship with authorities, which are essential for the performance in any legal career. Another benefit of this activity is the vertical and horizontal integration of the different courses at the school, between students and alumni, and also between students and the job market.
The teams in the competition are designated by the names of the offices that advise them. These are renowned offices in the legal market, both in the criminal area and others. It is up to them to guide the students on the defense and prosecution strategy, on the structure and writing of memorials, and also to prepare the team for the oral round. .
