In addition to providing teaching excellence, FGV Sao Paulo Law School also stands out for its emphasis on research, an effort to produce public goods that benefits all society, following the mission of Fundação Getulio Vargas to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
The research carried out at FGV Sao Paulo Law School is transversal, and crosses all its teaching programs, being individual or, preferably, collective.
The school keeps centers, nuclei, and groups that have teams of professors, researchers – most of them PhDs Masters – and students dedicated to research in different areas of Law.
Debates on ongoing research is frequent, and takes place through dozens of biannual events, including roundtables, workshops, seminars, and conferences, with wide public access and repercussion in society. Likewise, presentation of research results is wide, and takes place by holding and participating in events and public hearings, interviews to the media, and by and extensive publication of articles, papers, books, policy papers, and public data banks, among others.
Through the Assistant Coordination of Publications, FGV Sao Paulo Law School carries out promotion and dissemination activities that consist in creating a space for the intervention of its professors and researchers in the national and international intellectual debate, also allowing unrestricted free access to public relevance content.

Applied Legal Research Coordination (CPJA)
Following FGV’s tradition, which stands out as an important think tank, whose historical commitment is to contribute to the country's socio-economic development, FGV Sao Paulo Law School created the Applied Legal Research Coordination (CPJA), to collaborate, from the perspective of Law, for the solution of the main problems of Brazilian society.
Data Laboratory and Empirical Research in Law (LabDados)
The Data Laboratory and Empirical Research in Law (LabDados) is the link between methodological reflections on empirical research in Law and technological advances for data analysis. The objective of LabDados is to be a space for reflection and training in research designs, empirical methodologies, and the use of data science in law research.
